Pincher Creek's Majors Dust Devils hosted the Sparwood Titans in a doubleheader June 2 at the Lions Park Diamond. The Dust Devils started off well in the first game with an infield home run scored by Colter VanEe, the first member of the team up to bat.  This was also Colter's first home run of the season.

Sparwood made Pincher Creek sweat for their points.   The first baseman for Sparwood was on the ball and did his best to eliminate the competition before they crossed his plate if a line drive came near him.

Both teams get points for excellent showmanship. there were many times during both games where the umpire announced, "Bases loaded, three balls, two strikes"  for both teams.  Pitchers for Pincher Creek included #7 Michael, #11 Andrew, #59 Easton. Sparwood had #15 Dalton, #16 Ryan, and #10 Drycen pitching during the two games.

There were some moments of artistry during these games.  A Sparwood player running for home jumped over the PC player that was trying to tag him low, and was called safe.  Pincher Creek #11 Andrew had a real close call at home, but was called safe.   #3 Zack of Sparwood caught a high flying ball.  Two players on Pincher Creek scored their first home runs, #9 Wes Krampe had his first home run ever, and as mentioned above #23 Colter had his first of the season.  There was enough connections at the bat, sly steals, fast runs and good pitching to make both these games exciting to watch.

During these two games there was a lot of personal growth evident for the Pincher Creek team.  They are starting to connect the many pieces of the game together from individual achievements to being able to use those skills to act for the benefit of the team.

"I think they have put an amazing effort in, they did really good," said Sparwood Coach Shannon Burness about her team.

"They did really good," said Dust Devils Coach Jeff Kaupp about his team.  "Sparwood hasn't has as much time to play. They did great for the time that they've had."

The Dust Devils won both games of the day.  They took the first 21-8, and the second game ended 15-8.

The next game scheduled for the Majors Dust Devils is against Crowsnest Pass starting at 6:30 pm Tuesday, June 4 at Lions Park Field in Pincher Creek.
