Greetings from Crestview Lodge.
All our ladies enjoyed their Mother’s Day; they each got a beautiful rose and carnation from the lodge. We ventured out to the bright pearl for Chinese food on May 15th.
We enjoyed our Birthday party, listening to the supreme musical entertainment supplied by Checkmate. Many birthday wishes go out to Judith D. and Lillian T.
Charmaine T. and her Daughters came with an abundance of Dutch treats, licorice, mints and cookies. They gave us information about life in Holland that was interesting. They had costumes and wooden shoes and a history of their family. Thank you Charmaine and girls, we had an awesome time.
Dick Waywood came and collected pop can tops, we had a whopping 22,125 of them, for the making of wheel chairs.
A few of us had a ‘moooving’ experience taking in the local 4H day Beef Club Achievement Day. We didn’t buy a steer, but wish to congratulate the kids on all their projects.
We needed a vacation , so a few of us went down to Canyon School to watch the musical entitled ,’I need a Vacation’. Their performance included exceptional singing and acting as they took us on their holiday adventures.
Ann Nicols and her piano students had a fantastic two day piano recital. The children were very professional and talented, and the future of music is well assured. Thank you Ann, for your dedication and generosity.
It was a lovely day for a Strawberry Tea at Heritage Acres. We say lots of old friends and enjoyed a lovely lunch. Several Residents enjoyed a trip to Bellevue to take in the Seniors Conference.
The Cantare Children’s Choir from Calgary was touring Southern Alberta, and stopped at Crestview on June 8th. Thirty-six exhuberant children aged 8-12 wowed us with their musical ability. They stayed for cookies and juice and visited with all of us.
We enjoyed delightful goodies at Celestial Sweets during one of our coffee outings.
We had an educational drive out to Hawkeye Stables, enjoying the countryside and reminiscing about where people lived. Audrey B. provide the historical reviews and her son Jim gave us a tour of the stables. We enjoyed a fireside snack and listened to Jim tell us more about their ranch which was homesteaded in 1883.
Lynn T. brought nine children from Group Group Youth to assist us in spreading wood chips under and around our new trees. We are very thankful for the help and hope they come back to visit again.
Plans for the Outdoor Recreation Area are coming along. We are looking forward to installing the fire pit and paving the area. Can you smell the hot dogs yet?

Editor's note: Kathy Klein will be leaving Crestview Lodge. Charmaine Tienkamp will be taking over the Activity Coordinator's position there. Kathy has been a tremendous boon to the residents of the lodge. We wish her the best, and thank her for everything she has done. We also wish Charmaine the best in her new role.
