Jack Mitchell has earned a position on the Alberta Provincial Junior High Rodeo team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gallup New Mexico to compete at the 9th annual National Junior High Finals (NJHFR) in the Chute Dogging competition.  The NJHFR runs from June 23-29 this year.

Jack is a grade 8 student at Matthew Halton High School in Pincher Creek.

He was the season leader in Build a Cowboy, Saddle Bronc and Chute Dogging.

NJHFR is the world's largest junior high rodeo and features contestants from 41 states, 5 provinces, and Australia.  More than 1,000 contestants will vie for over $100,000 in college scholarships and more than $75,000 in prizes, and for the chance to be named the NJHFR National Champion.

Along with great rodeo competition and the chance to meet new friends from around the world, NJHFR contestants have the opportunity to enjoy shooting sports, volleyball, tug-of-war, contestant dances, family oriented activities, shopping at the NJHFR tradeshow, visits to area attractions, and church services sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys.
