Toni Lucas, Pincher Creek Voice
Canyon School in Pincher Creek gave out their Mathletics prizes for the time period from February to April 2013 on Thursday, May 2, 2013. The Mathletics awards are based on a point system that earns placement in bronze, silver and gold categories.
Bronze winners included Johnny Parker, Tyler Nelson, Logan Deley, and Shawn Hammond. Silver winner was Quinton Fox, with no entries for the gold category drawn. Landon Schmal had the honour of pulling the names drawn from entrants of each category.
Other entertainment at this ceremony included Grade One students singing 'The little Red Car', the Grade Two students singing a variety of songs, and Grade Six students performing five musical numbers on recorders.
Although the Super Mathlete Award program was originally going to start the following week, an outstanding achievement from student Jiwon Shin prompted an early launch of this award.
