The newly formed Lundbreck Gardeners were pleased to accept $1000 in donations yesterday in the form of two $500 cheques, one from the Lundbreck Citizens Council and the other from Pincher Plumbing owner Mike Bates.

They began their mission to beautify Lundbreck by establishing a sizable plot in front of the Livingstone Sabres sign at the entrance to the hamlet, just across the road from the Windsor Senior's Centre.  It's got a stout wooden enclosure and rich loamy soil, and will henceforth be one of the first things people see when they exit the highway.

The 8 member group was organized in March.  According to Rose Olson, two of their husbands have donated a lot of their time and some of their machinery to the cause.

"We want bigger entrance gardens to the town, so we're putting in lots of shrubs and flowers, and flowering shrubs," explained Rose.  "We plan on doing the one project first, then we plan on putting in planters down the main street."

They're quite willing to accept help. "Yes, anybody that wants to join, you bet.  Anybody that wants to get their hands dirty," said Rose.  They're also quite willing to accept donations of soil, fertilizers, ties (the wooden kind), shrubs, and trees.  

Bit by bit Lundbreck is being transformed, largely due to the efforts of civic-minded citizens like the Lundbreck Gardeners.
