Livingstone Range School Division appoints new Superintendent

The Livingstone Range School Division (LRSD) Board of Trustees recently announced the appointment of Mr. David Driscoll as the new Superintendent of Schools and Chief Executive Officer for Livingstone Range School Division No. 68 effective August 1, 2013.

“We welcome Mr. Driscoll to the Livingstone Range team and look forward to working with him to continue our pursuit of providing highest quality education for our students," commented LRSD Board of Trustees Chair Martha Ratcliffe. "We were pleased that our Canada-wide advertising resulted in excellent applications from seven provinces. As a result, Mr. Driscoll was selected from a field of truly outstanding candidates. We believe that Dave’s values and ethics, his strong work commitment and his ability to work collaboratively are an excellent fit for building on the current strengths of Livingstone Range School Division.”


According to the LRSD press release, Mr. Driscoll has maintained an exemplary record over a twenty-two year period as an educator in Alberta. He has excelled as a teacher and as a principal, being nominated for excellence awards in both categories. For the past seven years, Mr. Driscoll has served as the Deputy Superintendent and Associate Superintendent, Programs and Services with Horizon School Division.

Mr. Driscoll has a strong practical and theoretical background in educational leadership. He holds Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Physical Education (Secondary) degrees, both from the University of Calgary. He has also earned a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.


Dave comments, “The role of the leader requires listening, consensus building, ethical decision-making, and the building and maintenance of a sense of community. I commit to being an ambassador for the Division and an advocate for our students and staff. I look forward, with tremendous pride and anticipation, to serving as Superintendent of Schools for a Division that is innovative, diverse and student-centered.”

Mr. Driscoll and his wife Tracey have two daughters; Kelsey, attending the University of Lethbridge, and Hailey, who is in grade 10 this year. Dave enjoys many sports, including skiing, enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.Director of Learning Support Services Appointed April 15, 2013. Lorna Adrian has been appointed Director, Learning Support Services with Livingstone Range School Division effective August 19, 2013. Lorna began her teaching career with the Division in 1988. Over the past five years, Lorna has worked closely with staff in all schools in LRSD as Coordinator, Education Services. Schools will benefit from her continued support in her new role.

LRSD Administrator Appointments for 2013-14 School Year

Kathy Charchun has been appointed Principal of Stavely School effective with the 2013-14 school year. Crystal Good Rider has been appointed Assistant Principal of G.R. Davis School (Fort Macleod) effective with the 2013-14 school year.
