Francis is thrilled with the response she got from last year's instructor Janice Vaine. "She came in July 2012 and she had such a wonderful time. She designed this quilt specifically for Fibre Arts Week in Pincher Creek. She hadn't done it anywhere else. She decided to make a book on Fibre Arts Week in Pincher Creek, and this is the book. '“Needle Grace Cloth, Ribbon & Thread” A Pincher Creek Tribute'. One of the quotes from the book by Vaine says, "Laurel welcomes appliquérs, quilters, knitters, rug hookers, and fibre artists from many genres to relax and enjoy their work in the beautiful rustic setting of the Bloomin' Inn in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains."
According to Francis, Vaine has just launched the book at the world famous Applique Academy in Williamsburg, Virginia. "Most of the instructors at Fibre Arts Week have written books." Many on the photos in the book by Vaine were of quilts made right at last years event. "For anyone that's an appliquér in Alberta, they should be proud to have something about their area in a book."
Francis is excited about the upcoming event. There are ten instructors teaching a vast array of fibre and textile based classes, and the only non-fibre class is willow basket making. "It's very popular, we may have to schedule an extra day for that."
