Barracuda Judo Club attends Raymond Tournament

Members of the Barracuda Judo Club

Pincher Creek's Barracuda Judo Club participated in their very first tournament ever on March 23 in Raymond.  Nine athletes from Pincher Creek participated: Rhett Fitzpatrick, Easton Fitzpatrick, Benjamin Cooley, Solomon Cooley, William Johnson Jr., Corbin Litchfield, Sophia Citrigno, Mya Citrigno, and Mia Parker. Every single one of them earned a medal at the tournament.

Sensei Jennifer Parker said it was a meaningful tournament to start at, as the first judo club in Alberta was formed in Raymond in 1943.

The Barracuda Judo Club is a member of Judo Alberta, and is divided into two classes: Kindergarten to Grade 2 and Grade 3 to Grade 6.  There are usually about 20 kids in attendance at each class.  Classes are held on Mondays after school in a bright and beautiful space upstairs at Monster Fitness (1373 B Hunter Street, Pincher Creek).  The classes are lively and seem to be quite popular with the students in attendance.
