Fort Macleod to receive $10.26 million in compensation for cancelled police training facility

According to the Fort Macleod Gazette, Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Doug Griffiths said Thursday the town will get $10.26-million in compensation from the province for costs related to the recently cancelled Police Training Facility.  Griffiths said the money should be delivered by mid-February.

Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier issued a press release about the compensation issue.

"I have a great relationship with the mayor, Shawn Patience-he and I just spoke last week and he said he is generally happy with the progress so far," Stier said.

"He appreciated me keeping in touch and I do not wish to put any strain onto the pending deal at this time.  We remain in constant communication with the Mayor and look forward to having the town and the community fairly compensated for all of their efforts over the past few years."
