Pincher Creek's Senior Huskies hosted the Fort Macleod Mustangs at the MCC arena on Saturday evening, December 8.

Huskies Captain #15 Mason Bond scored first, at the 15:03 mark of the first period, assisted by #7 Taylor Elliott and #19 Hayden Shackel.  At the 10:03 mark the Mustangs' goalie wandered a little too far from his net, and Huskies #14 Wiley Handford took advantage of it.  #18 Randy Wittkopf got the assist on that play, and the Huskies were ahead 2-0.  "It was awesome," Wittkopf said the next day.  "I finally got to be on the ice for one of our wins."  Trivia moment: Wittkopf's daughter Emily wears #18 for Pincher Creek's Bantam Chinooks, a ferocious forward in her own right. The two teams battled to a draw for the rest of the period.

The Mustangs played with renewed determination at the beginning of the second period, and at the 18:41 mark brought the score to 2-1 with a goal by #23 John Prodaniuk, assisted by #3 Ben Webb. At the 11:34 mark Mason Bond took advantage of another wandering Mustangs goalie situation to bring the score to 3-1 for the Huskies. The rest of the period was more about the penalties than the scoring attempts, with the penalty boxes filling up withsome regularity.  Huskies Mason Bond and #6 Tony Raduck executed a brilliant passing play/fake-out, feeding the puck to Taylor Elliott, who in turn fed it to the back of the Mustangs' net, with 6:03 remaining in the period. 4-1 Huskies.  The Mustangs battled back hard, making multiple attempts with several near misses, and an "almost" goal at the 2:03 mark that came after a whistle and didn't count.  With 55 seconds remaining in the period another round of fisticuffs broke out.  The Huskies goalie #1 Joel Hasselman was the real star of the period, stopping 15 shots (compared to 9 against Mustangs goalie Cody Hall).

oops
The third period was relatively uneventful, with a lot of back and forth but no real advantage evident to either side.  At the 12:24 mark Mustangs #11 Greg Shimansky scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by #16 Taylor Kayato.  4-2, and that's where it still stood at the final buzzer.  A second win for the Huskies, and both of those at home.

The Senior Huskies have a home game against the Nanton Palominos scheduled for Friday evening, December 14 at the MCC arena in Pincher Creek, beginning at 8:00 pm.
