Three local charities got to share in the festivities of the Pincher Creek Legion #43's 85th anniversary celebrations. after the fact, in a very tangible way.  The Legion has taken some of the funds collected during the celebrations in September, and donated them back to the community.  Each of the chosen charities received a cheque for $790.

The Pincher Creek Humane Society will be using the donated funds for operational costs, as will Care Bears Society.  Children's World Daycare (CWD) will be adding their funds directly toward their playground and landscaping goals.  The cheques were presented by Event Chairperson for the 85th Anniversary Fred White, Past President Dick Burnham and Ladies Auxiliary Lou Burnham.

A cake celebrating the anniversary was donated and decorated by Amanda Kellington.  Her grandfather, Tommy Paterson was a WWII veteran that was a long-time member of the Legion.

To add to the festivities the Legion has created a time capsule that will be sealed and displayed in their trophy case.  It contains many items such as a memory stick containing the display made for the 85th celebrations, articles, a list of local veterans, and photos to be opened at the 100th anniversary of the Legion.
