Senior Mustangs update: The little team that can

Pincher Creek's Senior Mustangs are resting up after an incredible regular season, playing one exhibition game in a three week period.   The Mustangs defeated Chestermere 22-21 in an away game held on Monday, October 22.

Head Coach Peter Brannen said there were turnovers and a couple of interceptions by both teams in the close game, which was played on a snowy, slippery field.  "We actually covered pretty well," Coach Brannen said after a similarly slippery and snowy practice at the Matthew Halton School field today.  "We moved the ball well."

Their break will end on Friday, November 2 at 5 pm when they will travel to the University of Lethbridge field to take on the winner of a game being held tonight, October 26 between Coaldale and Claresholm.  If the Mustangs win that one the will be back in Lethbridge on Saturday, November 10.

 The Senior Mustangs are guaranteed to be going to Provincials but "We want to win the next game so we can be the #1 seed from our tier," Coach Brannen said, explaining that would result in a conference banner for the team.

Coach Brannen speculated that it would be nice to have a rematch against Canmore, the only team to beat the Senior Mustangs this season.  Canmore won an exhibition game played at McMahon Stadium on October 4 by a score of 18-17.  "We owe them," he said.

"If we just play our game, we should do well," he said.  We'll have most of our starters back.  The boys are hungry."

Bantam Mustangs game moved to Lethbridge

The Bantam Mustangs game against the Lethbridge Junior Bulldogs originally scheduled to be played at the Matthew Halton field tomorrow, October 26, has been rescheduled to be played in Lethbridge instead, due to the weather.
