RHL Huskies get closer to a reduction in ice costs
Bylaw amendment 1584-11-C passed first reading, with Councillor Hancock opposed.
The amendment proposes to give the newly formed RHL Pincher Creek Huskies a reduction in fees for ice time at the MCC arena.
In opposing the amendment Councillor Hancock would prefer to see a full or close to full cost recovery of Town expenses for adult sporting events.

MDSA and MSDAB board members to be renumerated
Council gave first, second and third reading to Municipal Development and Subdivision Authority Bylaw 1543-12. The purpose of this bylaw is to include a rate remuneration for individuals who are not council members to sit on the Municipal Development and Subdivision Authority (MDSA) board. The motion passed unanimously.
Council gave first, second and third reading to Municipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (MSDAB) Bylaw 1544-12. The purpose of this bylaw is to include a rate remuneration for MSDAB members. This motion was passed unanimously.
Southwest Alberta Oil and Gas Job Fair
Council discussed the progress of the upcoming oil and gas job fair that will be held at the Heritage Inn Hotel on Friday and Saturday September 21 and 22.
"We are expecting a good turn out of prospective employees," said CAO Laurie Wilgosh. She expressed disappointment that there are only four oil and gas companies that are currently confirmed as coming to the fair. These companies include MEG Energy, Shell Waterton, USR Flint, and SMS Equipment.
"Even if that is the max companies that we get, if the attendance is good, the word will get back to the other companies," said Mayor Olsen. He added that he is going to extend an invitation to the senior graduate classes of local high schools to attend.

Golf Course maintenance building plan changed
Council had previously granted approval for a 1000 square foot addition to an existing maintenance building on the Golf Course property.
Issues were encountered with the re-sitting of fuel tanks at the existing location. The Golf Course has presented a plan to Council to build the area 25 feet from the existing building. This was passed, with a suggestion from Councillor Hancock that Council rescind the previous motion that allowed the originally planned addition at a future council meeting.
If Town Council approves renumeration to board members, then those members should know protocol on items before them, such as "are the items supposed to be before the board", can the board vote on the application at hand or is it beyond their scope of duties as per the MGA (Municipal Government Act) or the LUB (Town's land use bylaws) - both of these must come from council to amend or approve - not the board. i.e. if it states in the Land Use Bylaw that "buildings over 20 yrs old may not be moved into Town" (that also means moving from one location to another) - MDSA CANNOT approve this - it is a statutory plan and an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw must be made by Council - this has been done in Pincher Creek.
