Airdrie RCMP investigating suspicious fire at an oil field pipe riser site

On September 8th, 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm RCMP Airdrie, with assistance of Crossfield and Madden Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at an oil field pipe riser site located southwest of Crossfield, Alberta.

Flow of the natural gas to the site was closed off by Direct Energy representatives and the existing gas in the pipes was allowed to burn off.  The fire was small and contained to the plug openings connected to the valves on the pipes.  Company officials placed air monitor employees at the site throughout the night.

There were no injuries sustained during this incident.

RCMP are currently investigating the mischief to the site.
