Whitebark pine is an important species in the upper subalpine ecosystem. It has a positive impact on watersheds by regulating stream flows, and it provides food, cover, and breeding habitat for various wildlife species. The presentation will provide a brief overview of the ecology and health of the whitebark pine in the Castle area.
