There were no kids yelling 'CAR' at the Pincher Creek's second annual 4-on-4 Road Hockey Festival on Saturday. They were safe from the hazards of traffic while they played in the parking lot between MCC Arena and the curling rink under blue skies and gentle breezes.

Three separate rinks were set up to keep kids of all age ranges engaged throughout the day. Approximately 70 kids registered for the event, and many siblings came to cheer on their family members and have fun. Bleachers were set up for the audience, there were crafts to do, and inside the ice arena there was a large obstacle course for those that wanted to challenge their friends and siblings.

Inside the arena entrance Pincher Creek Hockey Association were taking early registration for the season that starts end of September, early October. "We are doing fairly well," stated Association President Wendy Kay. Approximately 50 youths were already signed up for next season. Inside the arena R.N. and Registered Foot Health Practitioner Marilyn Lee was showing new products that can help to protect feet from blistering and lace irritation, making for a more enjoyable sports time for anyone before they lace up. "If the kids hurt when they're done playing it can take weeks before they want to try again," said Lee.
ParentLink organizer and involved parent Jackie Bruns was very pleased with the event. "We had great community support and volunteers. It's all about community." This was an event was not a tourney for points but for fun, which was had in abundance. This is the second year for the event, and Bruns said "There will be a year three!".
