Canyon School Year End Assembly and Awards

Canyon Elementary School held their 2012 Year End Assembly and Awards Day on Thursday, June 28.

A bittersweet farewell was made to retiring teacher Dorothy Boras by Mrs. Turnbull, who was one of her first local French students.  Mrs. Boras taught a variety of subjects and grades at Canyon School for 26 years.  She joined the Pincher Creek School Division in 1986  after teaching previously in Prince George, Vulcan, and Lethbridge.

Assistant Principal Chad Kuzyk is also moving on to take the role of Coordinator, Technology and Learning Services for the Livingstone Range School Division.

Teachers Mrs. Tara Tanner and Miss Cara Pawlick are also moving on to other challenges.

Mrs. Val Marr and Mrs. Shelley Doell were recognized by the Breakfast Club of Canada as best in Alberta.

After the awards ceremony, a slide show highlighting the soon-to-be Grade 6 students was shown.  After that they were applauded by students, parents, and teachers as they made their way through the halls and out the front door of Canyon School, symbolizing their graduation from elementary school and into junior high school next semester.
