Scholarships available for Alberta apprentices

950 scholarships, valued at $1,000 or $1,500 each, are available to Alberta apprentices this year. Apprentices may apply for these scholarships online by visiting www.tradesecrets.alberta.ca before the June 29 deadline.

Registered Apprenticeship Program/Career and Technology Studies Scholarships
In 2002, the Government of Alberta created scholarships for high school students in the Registered Apprenticeship Program to recognize their accomplishments and encourage completion of their apprenticeship training.

These scholarships have been expanded this year to include students who have also completed Career and Technology Studies apprenticeship pathways in the trades. Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarships
450 Apprenticeship and Industry Training scholarships are also available this year for apprentices and occupational trainees. These scholarships were created to recognize the excellence of Alberta apprentices in a trade or trainees in a designated occupation and to encourage recipients to complete their apprenticeship or occupational training programs.

Alberta has the most generous scholarship program in Canada, awarding more than $70 million to 37,000 Alberta learners in 2011.
