Catching up with Slow Pitch

Chris Davis with Tanis French

The Slow Pitch season has faced a couple of weather-related challenges so far this year, but the weather was much kinder last Thursday evening, May 31 than it had been the week before. On May 31 the Pitch Slaps hosted Coop, and the Replacements hosted the Sons of Pitches at Juan Teran Park.

Team work and excellent hitting by the Sons of Pitches proved to be too much for The Replacements.  A game of 3 up/3 down and pop flies with outrageous catches allowed lots of time for cheering. Pitches won it by a definitive 27-6, holding their first place ranking strong with a 4-0 record.

The Pitch Slaps came out victorious with a 36-16 win over the Coop. Despite injuries to first base player Miranda Elliott and to pitcher Robert Yanke (that one must have stung!), the Coop played an exciting match and for the most part held their own against big hitters like Steven Holloway, who hit it over the fence twice.

Heavy Hitters:
Trevor Doell ~ 5 runs
Aaron Koster,Megan Skierka, Brad Kilkenny, Robert Hodgson ~ 4 runs each
Colton Bitango, Nelson Smyth, Al Kaupp, Carolina Hunsberger, Mikey Elliott ~ 2 runs each

Replacements  3 wins/1 loss
Second Basers 2 wins/2 losses
Pitch Slaps  1 win/1 loss
Coop  1 win/3 losses
