Matthew Halton Dry Grad looking for donations

Toni Lucas, Pincher Creek Voice

Matthew Halton High School is opting for both a dry grad and a safe grad this year, both of which will be held after the grad ceremonies on Saturday, May 26.

Dry grad committee member Lindsay Sheen is looking for businesses to help with donations for the graduands to have a safe, sober, fun evening.  The committee is looking for door prizes, snacks, and money to provide for expenses that need to be covered.  When asked why she joined the dry grad committee Sheen said "My personal beliefs.  I don't drink.  A whole bunch of us students don't drink, and we wanted to have fun without alcohol around.  I want to remember my grad."  She mentioned that even if you have firm convictions to stay sober, there is peer pressure to indulge.

There  will be two grad parties for the school, one with alcohol and the dry one.  "The safe grad will be safe, and there's arranged busing to that one, you can't just drive there," Sheen explained.  "At the dry grad, we will play Mantracker, have games, a bounce tent, and a big bonfire,  and make S'mores."  Students will be the hunted prey, and volunteers will hunt them down.  Later on they have the option of going to the community hall and playing XBox, Connex, dodge ball and other games.  "We plan on wrapping it up sometime before 3 am."

To donate to the dry grad, contact Joanne Oliver at 403-627-4405 or email jloliver66@hotmail.com.

What a wonderful, responsible young women.

What a wondeful way to conclude twelve years of study!

Hopefully, the dry grad student will have the time of their life.

Please donate to this awesome cause.
