Free pass for seniors at provincial historic sites and museums in celebration of Seniors' Week

Seniors receive free admission June 4 - 10

From the Dunvegan Historic Site in the north to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in the southern badlands, Alberta’s historic sites will play host to the province’s seniors during Seniors’ Week, June 4 to 10. Seniors aged 65 and up will receive free admission to any of Alberta’s 18 provincial historic sites and museums.

  • Seniors’ Week events take place across the province from June 4 to 10 (click here for more information).
  • Seniors should be prepared to show identification indicating age to take advantage of the free admission to provincial historic sites and museums during Seniors’ Week.

The provincial launch of Seniors’ Week will take place in Red Deer at the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre on June 4 at 10:30 am.

“I am very pleased to recognize and honour the contributions of Alberta’s seniors by waiving entrance fees to our historic sites and museums during Seniors’ Week,” said Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Culture. “Our seniors represent the very best of Alberta. They have helped Alberta grow into the great province that we have today and I know they will continue to make vital contributions as volunteers and active members of our communities.”

“Offering free admission to historic sites and museums is just one way we can thank our seniors,” said Fred Horne, Minister of Health. "I hope all seniors in Alberta will take advantage of this excellent opportunity."

Alberta Culture operates and maintains 18 provincial historic sites across the province.
Visits to the Okotoks Erratic and Brooks Aqueduct are free of charge for all public viewing while donations are gratefully accepted for general public viewing at the Leitch Colleries.
