The 2309 Fort Macleod and the 2384 Standoff Army Cadets learned wilderness survival, how to build shelters, and various other skills at the Syncline Group Camp over the weekend of April 27 to 29.
The 2309 Royal Canadian Artillery Cadet Corps was established 64 years ago in Fort Macleod. It is presently about 40 cadets strong, with members from Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Brocket, Claresholm, and Monarch. The 2384 Standoff Kanai Cadet Corps is one of only two Native cadet corps in Canada.

Cadets range in age from 12 to 18. They are active from September to June every year. Cadets are not members of the Canadian Forces, and the cadet program is not a pre-requisite for Canadian military service. Drill Associations were created in 1862 in response to aggression from the United States, and eventually these associations evolved into the Cadet Corps. Girls were permitted to join starting in 1973.
