The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today the seizure of approximately six kilograms of cocaine at the port of Coutts, Alberta. This is the largest narcotic seizure in 2012 at the port of Coutts.
On March 22, 2012, an Alberta man arrived at the port of Coutts, importing a commercial load of goods. He was referred for further examination. During the examination, detector dog Trooper indicated the presence of drugs in a wooden barrel. Officers examined the barrel more closely using x-ray equipment and found the cocaine concealed within the wooden panels of the barrel.
The drugs were seized and the investigation is ongoing.
In 2011, there were 64 drug seizures at the port of Coutts which yielded 2.8 kilograms and 30 doses of drugs.
