Chamber to host Volunteer Fair on April 20

Are you looking for committed and motivated volunteers? Do you think they are hidden somewhere and hard to find?

The Pincher Creek & District Chamber of Commerce might have a solution for you: we are planning on hosting a Volunteer Fair on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 2 pm to 8 pm in the Ranchland Mall. The intention of this Fair would be for organizations in Pincher Creek to sign up volunteers on the spot.


We kindly invite every organization in Pincher Creek and District that is looking for volunteers to sign up for this Fair at no cost.

You may be aware that some people in town are not familiar with your organization let alone that there is a need for volunteers.

Therefore, we would like to make a few suggestions to attract more people to volunteer:

• Come to the Volunteer Fair prepared and make sure the following information is available for the visitors: 
• Tell people what your organization is about. The name doesn’t always ring a bell. 
• Come with lists of specific positions, jobs and duties and try to describe the jobs and duties as well as possible. Be specific.
• Volunteers usually would like to know what time factors are involved.
• Be innovative when recruiting for volunteer positions. 
• Make your table look attractive and appealing for people so they don’t just walk by. Think of a little gadget related to your organization to hand out, decorate your table, have some pictures handy for kids to color, let kids do a dot to dot puzzle, etc.
• Be organized and bring paper, pens, contact information cards and information sheets for people to take home. Not everybody will decide right away to sign up.
