Ten Alberta Southwest partners joined together to rent 100 linear feet of frontage at the Home and Garden Show held in Calgary last week. Displays for the towns of Pincher Creek, Nanton, and Fort MacLeod were interspersed with area attractions and accommodations. Questions about tourism, interests, lifestyles, business, real estate, and other opportunities received knowledgeable answers.

Bellevue Mines attended in full costume and spirit, as did The Bloomin' Inn and Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village (KBPV).  Equally enthusiastic were Mountain Meadows Trail Rides and the Southern Alberta Historic Sites, Frank Slide, Remington Carriage House and Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump. Waterton was well represented by Bayshore Inn Resort and Spa, and by Waterton Glacier Suites.

It was a great collaboration between the partners and the communities. Working together with everyone in attendance put a cooperative effort into presenting all the facets of southern Alberta living to those that passed by.  It was also a great opportunity to network and share ideas.

I was in attendance for the fourth year in a row.  I enjoyed my time explaining the benefits of our area.

The Calgary Home and Garden Show is a big ticket show, with big ticket buyers.  It's the largest building, renovation and decor show in western Canada.  This is a place where thousands of people are getting information to make lifestyle decisions.

Although attendance figures for this year's event were not yet available, according to their website the Calgary Home + Garden Show informs, entertains and inspires approximately 55,000 – 60,000 visitors a year.

With the growth of the "staycation" market, our area has become a destination of choice for the well-to-do Calgary citizen looking for a getaway that isn't too far away and for those that are looking for lifestyle alternatives to big city life.
