St. Michael's Senior Dragons hosted the Coalhurst Crusaders at the Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium on the evening of December 5. The Dragons were a force to be reckoned from the opening whistle, pulling ahead of Coalhurst immediately, and staying there throughout the game.

The Crusaders definitely had some strengths, being particularly fearless on the offence, but the Dragons were pumped and primed to win, playing all-out all the time. It took a toll physically, and the Crusaders were starting to close the gap at the beginning of the second quarter. The Crusaders had all the right moves, but the Dragons had chutzpah, hustle, and a determined drive to win. They drove up the score, dominated the second half, and eventually won it by the comfortable margin of 65-42.

Dragons' Brandon Naumczyk was the top scorer in the game with 21 points, followed closely by Nathan Bruder with 20 points and Westin Fairbrother with 18 points. Gabriel Rainford and Trevor Fiest each racked up 9 points, Pittman and Hilliard got 4 points apiece, and Jasper Woodard got 2 points. Johnathon Erik was the top scorer for the Crusaders with 16 points.

Right on Dragons! I wish I could see every game online.

  2. I wish we had the manpower to cover every game. As we grow, so will the coverage. If you know any student-journalist types that might like to help, point them our way. We can hook three or four of them up with some gear to use if necessary. We'd like to have one or two in each school, but our present budget is still a bit limited.
We were going to cover the game in Lundbreck tonight for example, but the weather is making it impractical, unfortunately.

  3. Also, we don't always get a schedule for this kind of thing until it's already rolling... hard to go if we don't know.
