Despite a valiant effort, Pincher Creek's Novice 1 Chinook team was unable to beat Kainai in a game held at the MCC Arena on Sunday, December 18.

Playing with a short bench, the Kainai squad put in a huge effort.  Kainai #12 Aaliyah Wolf Child got the only goal in the first period, her first of two in the game.  Pincher Creek briefly evened the score in the second with a beautiful breakaway goal by #20 Rhett Fitzpatrick, one of two in the game for him.  Kainai pulled ahead by as much as 2-6 in the second period before Pincher Creek rebounded.  Kainai's #10 Jacob Black Water scored three times in the second period.

In the third period the score was tied at one point, 6-6, but Kainai #6 Nealim Black Water dashed Pincher Creek's hopes for victory with three goals, one in the second period and two in the third, to ensure his team's success.
In addition to Rhett Fitzpatrick's two goals, Chinooks' Drew Stuckey and Nico Charette got a goal apiece, and #6 Christopher LeBlanc scored twice in the second period.

Kainai earned their victory, playing hard despite having only two extra athletes.  Our Chinooks deserve praise too, they played well.

Referee Thomas Gilmore
A job well done.

The game was slightly marred by the unseemly and unsportsmanlike behavior of one parent in the crowd who mercilessly heckled the officials, players on his own team, going so far as to threaten a mom in the crowd. This kind of behaviour has no place at a children's sporting event.
