Emergency Services responds to grassfire, accidents

Chris Davis

Pincher Creek Emergency Services responded to a grass fire near Beaver Mines on Saturday, December 3, around 6 pm. "We caught it fairly quickly," said Fire Chief Dave Cox," so it didn't amount to a lot."

On Sunday, December 4, they responded to two motor vehicle collisions. The first was at the junction of Highways 3 and 22 around 12:30 pm. Three vehicles were involved, and one person was transported to Pincher Creek Hospital with minor injuries.

The second accident was at the Brocket intersection of Highways 3 and 786, and involved two vehicles. Pincher Creek Emergency Services transported one person to Pincher Creek Hospital, and Peigan ambulance transported the other, both with undetermined injuries.

Road conditions were poor at the time, and in each case Cox said the situation "could have been a lot worse."
Lane markers tend to be snow covered this time of year.

Drivers are asked to exercise common sense out there, as it is believed both of these accidents could have easily been avoided. Driving sensibly saves lives.

Pincher Creek Emergency Services is looking for more recruits, and will be conducting training early next year. Phone 403-627-5333 or email info@pincherfire.com for more information.
