Communities include Barons, Champion, Claresholm, Coaldale,  the Crowsnest Pass, Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, Taber, Vulcan, and several regional services operating out of Lethbridge.

There was a brief presentation by four of the groups receiving funds. Community and organization representatives in attendance received recognition certificates and cheques.

Local recipients:

  • Pincher Creek and District Historical Society, which manages Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village - $10,000
  • Pincher Creek Community Centre Hall Society - $5,000
  • Society of the Friends to the Pincher Creek Library - $5,000
The Pincher Creek and District Historical Society will apply their funding to the 1920s expansion project at the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village.  They will be developing boardwalks, performing electrical upgrades,  installing security, landscaping, and developing the new exhibits.

The Friends to the Pincher Creek Library will apply their funding towards creating a separate, accessible sound-proof multi-purpose room to be used for video-conferencing and small group meetings by a variety of community organizations.

The Pincher Creek Community Centre Hall Society will purchase new chairs to better accommodate the many community groups who use the facility.

The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is a public foundation established in 1966 and operated by a  community-based volunteer Board of Trustees.  As it finishes its 45th year of operation, the Foundation’s volunteers continue to be dedicated to  enhancing a permanent community endowment, which in 2010 exceeded $12 million. These funds are continually being expanded by generous donors so that the investment income will forever support charitable organizations in southwestern Alberta.
