The Pee Wee and Bantam Mustangs were in Calgary on Monday, October 10 to experience the thrill of playing at the famed McMahon stadium.
The Bantam Mustangs played an exciting back-and-forth game against the Rocky Mountain House Rebels, winning 20-19 in the tight contest. According to Mustangs Coach Mitch Ball it was "Very exciting to be a part of. We won it on the last play of the game!"
Ball said the High Schol kids from Rocky mountain House did a good job of refereeing the game. The Mustangs scored in the first and last plays. Ball said they would get going, then get stopped, then get going again throughout the game. Ball was instrumental in arranging the McMahon trip. He helped start the Bantam program in Rocky Mountain House before coming to Pincher Creek. He said he and fellow coaches "had always wanted to do something like this."
The Bantam Mustangs have their first playoff game of the season tomorrow, Saturday, October 15, starting at 11 am at the Matthew Halton field in Pincher Creek. The face their arch-nemesis the Coaldale Bears. "They beat us last year, so we're looking for sweet revenge," said Coach Ball.
