Pincher Creek EMS were on-site for the rodeo this weekend, staffed by Nichole Boissoneault, Anne Molnar, and Jason Saelens.

These three were part of the dedicated crew that volunteered their time to the betterment of the rodeo.  Molnar has volunteered with the Lundbreck Fire Department for 10 years, acting as Chief for much of that time.  Saelens has with the Pincher Creek Emergency Services for three weeks, and he has an impressive 10 year history with Knee Hill County, close to Trochu, Alberta.

Molnar counted herself as lucky, there being only one injury that they were required to attend to during the rodeo.  "Knock on wood," chimed in Saelens, as the rodeo was not over yet.  The injury was to Ryley Jenkins. "I was stepped on, hard," Jenkins said, nursing a wounded leg.  Jenkins made it up under his own power, a good sign, according to Molnar.  "We never want to take someone out on a backboard, but we are there in case we are needed.  He (Jenkins) could be treated while sitting on the tailgate.  That is the best case scenario, after no injury at all."   Jenkins went on to compete in team roping after being treated.

Local Emergency Services Departments are looking for volunteers.  Pincher Creek, Beaver Mines, Lundbreck, and Cowley are looking for new people to join their forces.  The time commitment for fire department service includes 2 meetings a month, and for medical personnel, one meeting a month.  Meetings can take up to three hours.  "It is not how much time you can do it,  it is that you can be called upon (in an emergency)," Molnar explained.

To volunteer for the Pincher Creek, Lundbreck or Beaver Mines Departments, phone 403-627-5333.
To volunteer for Cowley, phone the Village of Cowley at 403-628-3808.
