Head Coach Dennis Sokownin was "really excited" at Thursday's practice. "I'm really glad these guys could come out, " he said, while the team practiced drills. "They're a really enthusiastic bunch of boys. There's lots of potential here, and they've been working really nicely as a team this year." Also at Thursday's practice were Offensive Co-ordinator Peter Brennan and new Coach Wayne Alexander, who "brings 35 years of experience to this team," according to Sokownin.
Sokownin has been coaching for years now, and his dedication to the team is very apparent. He gets in there, making sure every athlete gets an education in the sport, and more importantly to him, an inspiration in their lives. The Junior Mustangs will face the Coaldale Bears at the Matthew Halton field on Saturday, September 4.
The schedule calls for 6 regular season games. 3 games in September decide which of 3 tiers a team is placed in. 3 divisions compete, and each tier has playoff games before moving on to regular playoffs in week 7 of competition. The final Provincial playoffs are traditionally held on the same weekend as the Grey Cup.
