MD holds public meeting to review Animal Control Bylaw

On Thursday, September 22 the Council for the Municipal District  of Pincher Creek No. 9 held a sparsely attended public meeting to review Bylaw 1198-10, the Animal Control Bylaw.
The Bylaw contains few surprises.
Some highlights:


  • Prohibited pets include Wild Boar (Sus scrofa), Norway Rat (Rattus spp), and Venemous Snakes.
  • Bees are prohibited in Hamlets.
  • Density limits have been set on certain animal species, including Horses.
  • No more than three dogs on lands or premises within a Hamlet, Grouped Country Residential District, or within the Castle Mountain Resort, with some exceptions to allow for community events, temporary custody, or a permit authorizing the custody of four or more dogs.

MD Council meets next on Tuesday, September 27, at 1:00 pm.
On the agenda: Lundbreck railway crossing concerns, Oldman River Wind Energy Interconnection application, funding for Regional Water Feasibility Study, citzen concern about Spray Lakes Sawmills Todd Creek Logging licence, and various other items of interest.
