According to Environment Canada, eight new high temperature records were set in portions of Southern Alberta today, June 8, 2015. Temperature values given in degrees Celsius:
- Pincher Creek reached 29.8°, a nudge up from the previous record of 29.4° set in 1948 (records started in 1894).
- Waterton Park Gate - new record 30.0°, old record 26.3° set in 1996, records started in 1966
- Lethbridge - new record 33.4°, old record 32.8° set in 1948, records started in 1886
- Claresholm - new record of 32.0°, old record of 29.0 set in 1996, records started in 1952
- Drumheller - new record 34.9°, old record 32.8° set in 1977, records started in 1954
- Calgary International Airport - new record 31.9°, old record 31.1° set in 1948, records started in 1882
- Banff - new record 27.1°, old record 25.6° set in 1912, records started in 1893
- Vauxhall - new record 33.8°, old record 33.0° set in 1996, records started in 1914
Temperatures are expected to remain above normal into Thursday.
