The Southern Alberta Minor Football Association (SAMFA) held its annual All-Star Game on Saturday afternoon May 3 at University-Community Stadium in Lethbridge.  Following the game SAMFA hosted a banquet at which an awards ceremony was held for the 2013 season. Pincher Creek Mustangs coach Stan Walker attended the All-Stars game and helped coach it.

"Our boys did great, and all played well," said Walker. "Colton Teneycke, Jordon Hochstein, and John Walker played for the Orange team. Austin Bruder and Tyler Riviere played for the Purple team. The players were "drafted" to their teams by the two head coaches. I was an assistant coach on the Orange team. As you know the weather was not the greatest but the practices on Friday evening and Saturday went well, with the players getting to know their teammates and the plays for the game. It was impressive to see how well all the kids learned to play as a team in such a short time."

"For the orange team John Walker played center, Colton Teneycke played offensive guard and Jordon Hochstein played cornerback.  For the Purple team Tyler Riviere played linebacker and Austin Bruder played noseguard I believe."

"As for the game itself it was much closer then the score would show," Coach Walker explained.  "Orange beat Purple 28-12, but it was no cakewalk as Purple played a great game. I am sure that many new friends were made and it was a great experience for all involved."

Mustang Tyler Riviere was awarded Defensive MVP for the game, Top Linebacker for his team, and Linebacker of the Year for the league.

An interesting side note, many of the Mustangs including four of the All-Stars participated in Crossfit Football with Paula Saroz in the off season.
