Matthew Halton High School held Experiential Learning Week from March 24 - 28 in Pincher Creek and area. Each student chose a single course that they were enrolled in for the duration of the week. The school held 19 different courses during the week. The programs were offered in Pincher Creek and area with school, local business and citizen support.
Pre-employment training was offered with the help of Global Training. The course gave students the chance to take courses that will help them in industrial jobs. Global trains people to have the basic skills to enter into oil field work offering certificate programs including the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMS), and H2S Alive which involves dealing with harmful chemicals in a safe way.
The students received in-class training combined with hands on learning. They also participated in a one-man and two-man H2S rescue simulation as part of their experience.
