Missing person at Castle Mountain Resort found safe

At 11:00 pm on February 22, 2014 Castle Mountain Resort received a report of a missing skier who had not returned at the end of ski day. A search of the village area was conducted with no results. The RCMP were contacted and shortly after Pincher Creek Search and Rescue were put on alert for assistance with a search at first light.

At 7:00 am on February 23 CARDA search dogs, 18 personnel, Parks Canada, and Pincher Creek Search and Rescue members started a search from the top of Tamarack Chair, where the missing person was last seen the previous afternoon. A helicopter also assisted with the search.

At around 9:10 am on February 23 the missing person was found. He spent the night outside the ski area boundary and walked back to the resort on his own. He has sustained a minor cold injury and will be taken to Pincher Creek Hospital for treatment. Castle Mountain Resort would like to thank all involved for their efforts in helping with this search.
