Robin Campbell, Minister of Aboriginal Relations was honoured by Piikani Nation Elder Reg Crowshoe in a ceremony in Calgary today, where he received a ceremonial headdress and the Blackfoot name Mak-Koyii-Sa-Pii (meaning, Wolf Charger).

“I want to thank the Treaty 7 Management Corporation and supporting Chiefs for giving me the great honour of this beautiful headdress and the name from a tribe that has such deep significance in Alberta’s history.

I am humbled more than I can say by this profound and moving honour that signifies the spirit and strength of our friendship. This moment has great personal significance for me, as a representative of the Government of Alberta, and as an Albertan.”
