Castle Mountain Basketball: working on skills development
Chris Davis, Pincher Creek Voice
Local basketball coach John Lowry is one of the organizers for the Castle Mountain Heights Basketball Club Ball team, which practices at Matthew Halton School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm.
"We've got some of the college girls coming back and doing a bit of the coaching," said Lowry. He's hoping to get enough interest and participation to enter an upcoming tournament or two.
"We do a lot of skills building, and competition. Right now we have eight girls. We just have to find a weekend around all the grads that are going on to get all eight into one tournament."
Boys are also encouraged to participate, and some younger boys are already part of the program. "We are practicing with them," Lowry explained, "and next year we'll look at actually running a boys team."
"We go until the first or second week of June."
"Come on out, try it, and we'll talk about registration fees after that."
"It's good for developmental."
