Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier was on hand Friday afternoon, February 8 to perform the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the recently installed elevator at Pincher Creek's Royal Canadian Legion Branch #43.

The six-person elevator cost about $225,000 and was installed to make the upstairs meeting/events area of the Legion building more accessible to its members and guests.
Also present at the event were representatives from various organizations and councils who contributed to the elevator construction fund, including the  Royal Canadian Legion, Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9, Town of Pincher Creek, Pincher-Cowley Roaring Lions, Pincher Creek Rotary Club, Pincher Creek Elks, Pincher Creek Knights of Columbus, and Pincher Creek Lions.

After the ceremony Pincher Creek Legion President Dick Waywood thanked everyone for their support and extended an invitation to visit for awhile and enjoy some complimentary snacks and beverages.

The elevator has already made an appreciable positive impact on the lives of regular Legion patrons and staff.

The ribbon was so nice they cut it twice

  1. It is great that this elevator will make the Pincher Creek Legion areas that were previously hard to access more accessible and all inclusive for the members and guests that are possibly using a wheelchair to get around in. Congratulations are in order for all the stakeholders that came together to make this happen.
