The St. Michael's Senior Boys basketball squad defeated local rivals the Livingstone Sabres and the Halton Hawks in games they hosted at the Dale Wentz Memorial Gymnasium this week.

In the second quarter Gabe Rainford of the Dragons made a sweet 3 pointer, the beginning of an amazing 11 point scoring spree for him. The Dragons were really working the rebounds and demonstrating their authoritative passing game. Ross Cook of the Sabres scored 6 points in the quarter, including a tricky shot from under the net. The two teams were much closer than in the first, with the Dragons scoring 16 points to 14 for the Sabres, putting the Dragons ahead 34-24 at the half.
In the third quarter Cory Geddes scored another amazing 11 points for the Dragons, and Jared Pittman gave a clinic in three-pointers, twice. The Sabres were left in the dust for the quarter, with the Dragons scoring 22 points to 10.
Final score: Dragons 67, Sabres 53.
Top scorers for the Dragons were Cory Geddes with 22 points, Nathan Bruder with 18 points, Gabe Rainford with 16 points, and Jared Pittman with 8 points.
Top scorers for the Sabres were Aaron Brown with 20 points, Ross Cook with 15 points, and Morgan Cook with 8 points.

Chinook League Tourney
The Chinook League Championship Tournament is scheduled for March 1 and 2, with Girls teams to play at Matthew Halton School and Boys teams to play at St. Michael's School. More information as it comes.
