A demolition crew began dismantling the
PCHS/SPCA building in July 7 to make way for a brand new facility. The animals
have been relocated in the interim, with the dogs in the care of
various volunteers into foster care and the cats being housed at the
former RCMP headquarters (659 Main Street) which serves as the temporary
PCHS/SPCA until the new facility has been completed.
To
make up a $100,000 shortfall for the expenses of rebuilding, PCHS/SPCA
hosted a "Raise the Woof" comedy fundraiser night at the Pincher Creek
Community Hall on Thursday evening September 11, featuring the appreciated comedic talents of Art Krug. There's no final tally at this point because donations are still coming in.
SPCA Raise the Woof Organizer Simone Forget was truly appreciative of the support shown at the fundraiser. "I was blown away. We asked and everyone gave, we invited and they all came. The support we have received will help thousands of cats and dogs in the future. They all have a brighter future because of the generosity of the people who came, and supported this."
PCHS/SPCA President Clara Yagos said "It was definitely a huge success."
