Boston Pizza fire quickly quelled

Chris Davis

Pincher Creek Emergency Services (PCES) was called to a fire at the Pincher Creek Boston Pizza at 12:23 am today, after RCMP responded to an alarm at the restaurant and saw fire inside the restaurant.  PCES responded with Engines 11, 15, 43, an ambulance, and the Command 1 truck.

According to PCES Chief Dave Cox "We knocked the fire down fairly quickly and then ventilated the building to get rid of the smoke."  The cause of the fire is under investigation, and is not considered to be suspicious at this time.  While not yet officially assessed, damage to the restaurant appears to have been contained to the interior dining area.  By 1:30 pm PCES was in the mop-up stage of the call.

Earlier in the night PCES was asked to send an ambulance to Claresholm for an Alpha level (lower urgency) response, but was told to stand down en-route.
