Pincher Creek man killed in Bowden area collision
On Wednesday, May 23, at 8:49 pm Olds RCMP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision west of Bowden, Alberta, on Secondary highway 587 at the intersection of Range Road 14. Alberta Emergency Health Services and the Bowden Fire Department also attended to the scene.
As a result of the investigation, it is believed a north bound Chrysler Cordoba driven by a male lone occupant, aged 24 years from the Pincher Creek area, attempted to cross the Secondary highway at an intersection controlled by a stop sign. The Cordoba was struck by an east bound Pontiac Vibe driven by a lone female occupant, aged 65 years from Innisfail area.
As a result of the collision both vehicles came to rest in the north east ditch and the male driver had been ejected from the vehicle. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the female driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision, however speed and failing to stop at a stop sign were contributing factors. No charges will be laid relating to this collision.
The deceased's identity is not being released.
