Donna Shank of Lethbridge is the winner of the quilt. She drove down the same day to pick it up. Shank is a member of the West Side Busy Hands in Lethbridge, a group that also makes quilts for worthy causes. Their group has donated to Harbour House YMCA Women's Shelter, for Foster Kids, and to victims of the Slave Lake disaster. When asked what she would do with this one, as she is used to giving away quilts, she said "I have never won anything before. This one is mine, and it will go on my bed."
Grace Clarahan of Westlock Alberta won second place, the prize being the pieces of a beautiful quilt waiting to be made donated By Shaggy Dog designs. Shaggy Dog is hosting Fiber Arts Week in Pincher Creek July 16 to 22, 2012. To find out more information for that event visit http://fibreartsweek.com. During that same week Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village will be hosting a textile display.
